From its very first day in 1957, Sierra School Equipment Company has worked diligently toward the goal of providing the highest quality furniture products and best in class service to customers.

More than sixty years after Robert and Audrey McDermott founded Sierra, their three sons—Greg, Mike, and Pat—have carried on their father’s legacy by continuing to build a company that prides itself on excellent service and its sterling reputation across California and Nevada. SIERRA has grown to serve the educational markets, and institutions across Healthcare, Finance, Government, Agriculture, Entertainment, Hospitality, Construction, Architecture & Design, and Non-Profit. Now a third generation of McDermott's—Philip, Steven, Patrick, Kevin, and Robert —are working hard to expand the company and continue the legacy of their grandfather and fathers.

Since 1957, our team has been actively involved with every step of the design, planning, and purchasing process for classroom furniture, office furniture, library furniture, fixed seating, laboratory furniture, lockers, and gymnasium bleachers—just to name a few. Over the decades, building layouts and furniture have changed, but our commitment to excellence has remained the same. As classrooms and offices evolved in the 21st century to focus on adaptable and collaborative environments, our team has brought decades of experience to the design, including STEAM labs, media centers, makerspaces, and robotics labs.
